Bosco in Black Mountain, NC 2007 |
|
· Bosco, a European black and tan bloodhound, began search and rescue training in early 2007. Filled with energy and enthusiasm, Bosco is making great progress in his training and relishes in following urban and rural trails set by volunteers. Bosco’s training schedule includes running trails in all seasons and weather conditions, day and night, to aide in his search and rescue conditioning · Training is just as much a learning experience for the dog handler as the bloodhound. Maintaining training logs is essential to document the bloodhounds’ training records · Bosco attended training for Beginning Trailing in Fall 2007, where he worked with experienced handlers in the search and rescue field. He has advanced to Intermediate Trailing and we realize his eagerness and determination will make him a successful search and rescue dog. It is very exciting to see Bosco serve his purpose as a working dog. · Bosco attended intermediate training for trailing in January 2008 with the Central Georgia K-9 Search & Rescue Seminar in Forsyth, Georgia · Bosco & Diesel attended the Old Dominion K-9 and Sumner County EMA in Appomattox Virginia the fall of 2008. The dogs worked in unusual cold and warm temperatures and rain. The trails included many distractions and courses that were on all types of terrain including culverts with flowing water and night trails · Bosco & Diesel attended the Iowa Fall 2009 Manhunters k9 Workshop with K-9 Alliance. Both were introduced to Human Remains Detection (HRD), to test their reaction to cadaver exposure |
